I took my love to violet hill

Today I am catching up on the past weeks posts. This last week has been super crazy as I have had assignments coming out of my ears. So first one for the day is a colour tribute to one of my mums favourite colours - violet (or purple).

violet...

Gorgeous little country breakfast setting.

Yum!!!

What a gorgeous way to use up old buttons.

I adore Siamese Fighting Fish. I had one named Jeffrey. He lived for two years (a long time apparently in Siamese Fighting Fish years).

Violet

What a nifty use for old furniture and a small space - not only is a work of art, but it is practical.

Peaceful?

Violet!!!

I actually want these chairs. Their shape is absolutely beautiful and the rug on the floor is amazing.

Mon Amour Monday | Beautiful Things

So as I attempt to get my Pinterest to login in, I am left wondering why it is that I actually spend so much time doing things that seem highly unproductive. In my defense, I have given up Facebook for a week (a bet with lover friend who feels that 'younger generations' aka. his girlfriend who is six years younger than him) have an inability to survive without social media.  So far I am proving him wrong! Anyway, back to my unproductiveness. As I was saying, I seem to spend a large amount of time being incredibly unproductive, waiting for pages to load on my computer, reading blogs and trawling through Pinterest for the 100th time, however, in reflection, I have realised that this time is actually highly productive. My reasons are as follows:

1. I no longer buy lifestyle/home/beauty/fashion magazines. That in its self is productive savings!

2. I have a log of all the things that I have fallen in love with/needed desperately/longed to have but know deep down will never have. Again, this log is in itself reference perfection (Chicago referencing eat my shorts - I got a blog now.

3. I always look super dooper busy on my computer. This makes me feel important (I even have learnt to use Microsoft Outlook) and as such, I feel productive.

4. My dear mumsy gets to know what is happening in my life in actual detail/with photos attached. This occurs in neither the Facebook posts, emails or almost daily conversations I have with her (yes, I call my mum almost everyday. What can I say, despite spending 17 years growing up thinking my parents were the most embarrassing, cruel human beings to walk planet Earth, the day I moved away from home to study, my opinion completely changed).

5. It makes me happy. Full stop. The end.

So in honour of my happiness for my 'productiveness' and in avoidance of attempting to go to sleep here are some beautiful things to start a beautiful (and crazy) week.

Photoshop who?

I have fallen in love with a new (for me - it may have already been pretty common knowledge, but I am always 'behind the times') discovery. So, I jumped on the computer this morning, headed over to bloglovin.com to see what blogs had come through (yes my life is pathetic and sad) and up popped one from a favourite blog of mine Living in Yellow. I was reading through the blog post on "making photos pretty (without photoshop)" and then SHAZAM! I was introduced to this little puppy...

And on there, you can do the most incredible things! As I said, I am often slow to catch on to things, however, I am so excited that I have to share.

Everything is super easy. You just click a button and it whitens you teeth. Click another button, BOOM, fake tan. Click another button and your photo is transformed into a Polaroid. It is this easy. I did a little transforming of a photo this morning in my excitement, and feel it rivals anything I could have done on Photoshop (which would have taken me hours instead of minutes).

                          Before                                                                    After

So I say au revoir to Photoshop and hello to photo editing simpleness with no layers and frustration. I will leave Photoshop to the experts!

 Have a lovely day all

Date Night

We try and have date night whenever possible. Today we went and saw American Pie Reunion (we are now the official owners of a 'Grand Card' - $10 movies all the WAY!!!) and then after a quick stop in back at home, headed down to the beach for some fish and chips, ice-cream and a sunset. It was such a beautiful sunset and there were loads of people there. The first photo is my favourite. I was using my sunnies as a filter.

I look like the biggest kid in the ice-cream photo. I gotta ask, WHO doesn't LOVE sprinkles and soft serve. Actually, don't answer that - there are probably loads of people who don't, but those people I don't wanna know (joking!)

Anyway, here are a few photos. Night xx

Orange Coloured Sky

Orange is one of those colours that no matter what context it is presented in, it always makes an impact. Be it as a warning sign or simple as a pop of colour in a room. Here is a collection of a few of my favourite uses of the colour.

I love this chest of drawers from Coco Cozy. It is just so fun and punchy. And the mirror - AMAZING.

.

Little orange elephant as seen on Apartment Therapy. He is just so cute and happy. There is nothing sweeter than a little elephant with his trunk up (good luck symbol).

Aren't these flowers just beautiful? Known as Lady Emma Hamilton, these roses are from David Austin. I believe, there shape is simply incredible. They actually look fake there are so perfect.

orange in orange

I know that I am incredibly 'behind the times', but I have recently fallen in love with coloured jeans. Aside from the fact they look far more fun than just blue or black, they all seem to be incredibly comfortable (I think it is the added elastine in them). These orange ones are no exception.

Beautiful eye make-up from Keiko Lynn. This website has beautiful tutorials for make-up.

orange so orange =)

These are the pops of orange the make a room. They add a sort of retro funkyness (whether or not funkyness is a word is a matter for the Oxford Dictionary, however, I will continue to use it). Design Attractor, the source of these images seem to love finding interiors with pops of orange in them.

And finally, this painting that is so beautiful. I want it. Think it may be added to my 'To Paint' list. I cannot find the original source of it however, have tagged it to Pinterest. Perfectly describes the title of the song "Orange Coloured Sky" by Nat King Cole.

Orange Sunset, Red Tree

My mummy dearest just sent me this photo from a recent camping trip she and dad went on. The tranquility of the place is incredible!

Note: Where possible I have tried to find original source. In all other instances, I have obtained earliest possible source.

Best Thursday

Today I was graced with a lovely visitor who I refer to as food poisoning (note to self: never, ever, ever buy curry again from the supermarket. It's not that hard to make so don't be lazy) so I have time to finally do proper blog posts.   That said, according to my calendar, today is Best Thursday (the day before Good Friday) and thus the beginning of Easter.

We all know why we celebrate Easter and I gotta say, I am pretty darn thankful for this time of year. For me, Easter is kind of like a new year. It's a time to leave bad things behind and move onto a better life. So that said, here is a round up of some of the loveliest Easter things around.

Happy Easter all. xx

Bird's Nest Macaroons. Precious little eggs. Blue and Easter just seem perfect together.

Retro Mama's little precious fabric eggs

Photobucket

Silk-dyed Easter eggs. Such a beautiful way to use old ties. Gonna raid dad's wardrobe.

Beautiful decorations or center pieces for Easter from Martha. I love the colours.

Flower Arrangements in Eggshells

Super precious Easter basket from Moda Bake Shop. What a unique way to use up left over scraps of super cute fabric.

Craftionary has collected a whole bunch of sweet Easter print outs. Go check them out.

Oh So Turquoise

Hello dear readers (whoever you may be),

I apologise for my significant absence, uni life has been crazy! Assignments, tests, assignments, tests, assignments etc etc etc. It is never ending! ANYWAY.

So I have recently developed an addiction to turquoise. I think this may have come to me when I painted my nails emerald greeny/turquoisey for St Patrick's Day a few weeks back, but needless to say, I am OBSESSED. Whilst finances (and my boyfriend) have not permitted the purchase of anything turquoise, who ever said a girl can't dream. So here is a small collection of my turquoise favourites care of Pinterest. I hope you enjoy my turquoise fantasy.

This first one is the coolest thing ever done with glow sticks (in my professional opinion). They got some mason jars, chopped the end off an unsnapped glow stick, poured the contents (fluid, glass and all) into the jar, whacked the lid back on and shook the lights (literally) out of it. Ta DA! Pretty lights displays. I really want to try it.

Finally, the amazing singer that she is...(although Blake still can't quite understand how you can "set fire to the rain". He lacks romantic metaphorical knowledge).

That is all. Bed is calling. YAY for week off uni. Will post more ASAP.

P.S I apologise for the crappiness of my links. I will sort it out tomorrow. Sleep calls.
