players versus the game

Okay, so this is a shout out to those who believe you cannot change the way things are. This may be true in some instances but I have come to the conclusion that when it comes to relationships, if you can't change the players, then why not simply change the game?

If you change the game, then automatically by default the players should change too. Say for example, you hit up the some "type of bars" or always play the "same rules" and you always end up with the same results. One friend of mine who I love to death always ends up with the same guy and the same situation - the are no good together and break up. After sitting back and listening to her discuss her ideal man/ideal relationship, I realised that the problem was not the guys she was getting or her (despite her contradictions to the matter) the issue was the WAY she was playing the game. So ladies (and possibly gents) lets shake things up a bit a change the game.

I met my AMAZING boyfriend (who when I asked him what I should blog about today - here it is honey - your reference) on a celebration of single-dom night after giving a fella that was messing with my head the good old heave-ho. APPARENTLY, just as he and his best friend where about to leave the bar that neither of us had actually intended on going to, my six Singapore Sling wandering eyes noticed him and decided to wander over. PLEASE NOTE: I HAD NEVER DONE THIS IN MY LIFE!!! Anyway, so I wandered over and apparently (my memory is a bit hazy) we started chatting and well the rest is history. Needless to say we have been head over heels (yes I know it is cliche) ever since. And I say it is because I changed the game. I gave the dodgy fella the good old heave-ho, found my true self again and once I started loving me and with a bit of assistance from the lovely Sir Singapore Slings, I CHANGED the game found LOVE!!! Well, that is my Carrie Bradshaw moment for hopefully the year/my life.

I try my very best to not dish out relationship advice but I am just frustrated with all the capital W.A.N.K.E.R.S out there. On both sides of the playing field. So anyway, rant is over. Night all :)

P.S Photo above is taken about an hour after we met. B/W filter kind of removes my drunken hazy look - you lucky peeps are the only ones to ever see this photo :)

oh buttons.

Alright, so if you ask my mother, she will tell you that from a young age I LOVED collecting things. Gosh, I had a collection of badges I had received on birthday cards/gotten for free from companies at expo's which I still have today. Bit lame I know but I was a kid and I was sort of a dork to say the least. ANYWAY, in recent years (since moving out of home mainly) my collecting love has kind of switched and now I collect all sorts of things from cook books to tea cups and of course BUTTONS!

I have no idea why I love buttons so much. Maybe because we always seem to lose the ones that come spare with our cardi's or shirts, or maybe it is just that they are so darn cute and COLOURFUL. So I thought, as my final note of procrastination for the evening I would post a picture of my button collection (don't you just love all the colours!!!) and give you a quick history on the sometimes taken for granted (until your work pants are held together with a busted zip and safety pin!) necessary clothing fixture. If you are feeling button inspired let me know if you have a favourite button/button collection.

(According to Wikipedia)

"Buttons and button-like objects used as ornaments or seals rather than fasteners have been discovered in the Indus Valley Civilizationduring its Kot Diji phase (circa 2800-2600 BCE) as well as Bronze Age sites in China (circa 2000-1500 BCE), and Ancient Rome.

Buttons made from seashell were used in the Indus Valley Civilization for ornamental purposes by 2000 BCE. Some buttons were carved into geometric shapes and had holes pierced into them so that they could be attached to clothing with thread. Ian McNeil (1990) holds that: "The button, in fact, was originally used more as an ornament than as a fastening, the earliest known being found at Mohenjo-daro in the Indus Valley. It is made of a curved shell and about 5000 years old."

Functional buttons with buttonholes for fastening or closing clothes appeared first in Germany in the 13th century. They soon became widespread with the rise of snug-fitting garments in 13th- and 14th-century Europe."

Anyway, that is enough button talk and procrastination for now. Night all xxx

Super cute ring dish

Okay, so anyone who has seen my house would know that I LOVE little weird storage devices. I am willing to pay a fortune for something that is unusual, different and one of a kind. Talking of one of a kind, what is more one of a kind that your VERY OWN, home-made jewellery bowl? I found this super easy, super quick tutorial (click here for tutorial) over at Honestly WTF. Think I will need to buy some clay at work tomorrow so that I can give it a go - despite my looming exam on Tuesday! Eek! Oh well, a little bit of crafty action never goes astray. Imagine all the different textures you could use in the middle. FINALLY a use for my mounting doily collection. Anyway lovelies, I best be heading back to study. Have a glorious weekend and I will see you all on the other side of Tuesday exam (if I have not ventured back on here in a desperate last ditch attempt to procrastinate). Bye xx

geriatric starlet

Okay, so I have recently been introduced to the incredibleness that is Iris Apfel thanks to one of my favourite blogs the Daybook. She is 90 years old and man am I JEALOUS of her style!!! Read the article (click here for it) about her and you will be jealous too! She has style, praises ageing naturally and gives you quite a giggle. AND she has been married to her husband for 64 years next year. Bit of an inspirational woman really. Hope you enjoy the read as much as I did.

P.S Her house looks like a treasure trove of amazingness!

DIY Braided Bead Braclets

These braided bead bracelets are one of my favourite DIY projects from awesome blog HonestlyWTF. I love wearing a whole bunch of them in a group together, especially if you have made a whole lot in different colours. Perfect for a summer denim shorts and singlet day!!

Procrastination

Deciding to create a blog/follow other peoples blogs seems to be the most important tool for procrastination I have discovered in my five years at university. I am so excited to have my very own blog after spending thousands of hours (procrastinating??) trawling through the creative genius of so many other bloggers. Gosh darn I am excited!!!
